Jonathan Lavine serves as Co-Managing Partner of Bain Capital and Chief Investment Officer of Bain Capital Credit, formerly Sankaty Advisors, the fixed income and credit affiliate of Bain Capital. Today, Bain Capital Credit is one of the nation’s leading managers of leveraged loans and bonds, credit derivatives, mezzanine and distressed debt, with over 230 employees in offices in Boston, New York, Chicago, London, Dublin, Luxembourg, Australia, and Hong Kong with approximately $30 billion in committed assets under management.

Before the formation of Bain Capital Credit, Jonathan Lavine worked in Bain Capital’s private equity business. Prior to joining Bain Capital, he was a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department.

An active participant in charitable organizations, Jonathan is a member of the Boards of Columbia College, Children’s Hospital Trust, Horizons for Homeless Children, Be The Change Inc., ServiceNation and Stand for Children. He serves as Chair of the National Board of Trustees of City Year and is a Director of the Boston Celtics. As the Co-Chair of Opportunity Nation, Jonathan was involved in the first National Opportunity Summit in February 2015, an event focused on youth employment and opportunity.

In 2004, Jonathan was honored as one of the Boston Business Journal’s 40 outstanding Bostonians under the age of 40. Jonathan Lavine received the Distinguished Community Service award from the ADL in 2012 and was honored by the Kraft Center in 2014. Jonathan received an M.B.A., with Distinction, from Harvard Business School, and a B.A., Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia College. While at Columbia, he received the David Truman Award for outstanding contribution to the academic affairs of the college.
