Robert L. Gordon III
President, Be the Change, Inc.
Rob Gordon is the President of Be the Change, Inc., a social entrepreneurial organization that creates and manages national issue-based campaigns, such as ServiceNation, Opportunity Nation and Got Your 6. Rob is also Chairman of the Board of Advisors and the former Chief Strategy Officer of APX Labs, a Smart Glasses software company.
Before APX Labs, he was appointed Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Community in July 2010 where Rob was responsible for defense-wide policy, program execution and oversight of over $20 billion of the Defense Department’s worldwide community programs and initiatives affecting over 4 million military active duty service and family members, and retirees. For his accomplishments he received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service. Additionally, Rob is a retired Army colonel and airborne ranger, holding numerous command and staff positions, including head of American Politics at West Point, where he was a leader in creating technology solutions to enhance student centric education.
After his Army career, Rob held senior executive positions at City Year. As a 1992 -1993 White House Fellow, Rob served as both the Special Assistant to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and the Director of Special Operations in the White House Office of National Service. Rob has an MPA from Princeton University and a BS from West Point.
