Plans To Repair The Broken Ladder Of Opportunity
•Last week’s Opportunity Nation Summit featured engaging discussions of the challenges we face in repairing the broken ladder of opportunity as well as leading ideas for fixing it.
We heard from leaders of all ages and from many sectors—business, non-profit, faith communities, higher education institutions, elected officials and others—sharing potential solutions and elevating our common desire to ensure the rising generation has a chance at success. And we were inspired by young adults from diverse backgrounds who are making their communities better every day and reaching up for that next rung on the ladder to achieve their own American Dream.
Now, the real work begins. Opportunity Nation’s shared plan culminates with a call to action because we all have a role to play in giving the American Dream a jumpstart. Whether you lead an organization or business or simply care about getting all of our players on the field so our country can compete, you can be a part of this campaign.

At last week’s Summit, Opportunity Nation partners demonstrated their commitments in a variety of ways. United Way Worldwide talked about their commitment to recruit a million new mentors to make sure young people have a caring adult in their lives. Summer Search shared their effort to elevate youth voice in making decisions within their organization.
And grassroots partners like Linda Nelson of Arkansas explained how they are building local connections to increase their Opportunity Index scores.
