Support the American Dream Accounts Act

by Melanie Anderson   •

Did you know the number one reason students fail to complete their college education is lack of financial resources?

That is why we’re thrilled that just two weeks after the National Opportunity Summit, the bipartisan American Dream Accounts Act has been reintroduced by Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).

This legislation, which Opportunity Nation has long supported and championed, focuses on innovation and cross-sector partnerships that help students make smart investments in their educational future and reach their career goals.

Studies show that low- and moderate-income students with a college savings account are three times more likely to attend college and four times more likely to graduate.

We believe that the energy and focus unleashed by the third National Opportunity Summit in D.C. last month can help mobilize our national network to help get this bill passed during the current Congressional Session. Supporting college savings plans combined with online support to track college readiness for low-income children is part of our call to action: We Got This.
