OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL: Almost all states are doing a better job of providing students with opportunities to better themselves compared with previous years. Opportunity Nation released its 2014 Opportunity Index today, which looks at states and how they’re faring in several different categories: jobs and the economy, education, and community health and civic life. On education, the index considers preschool enrollment, on-time high school graduation and the percentage of adults with a two-year college degree or more. While most states improved their scores when it comes to education, Rhode Island and South Dakota showed downward trends. Vermont earned the highest marks when it comes to education and Nevada fell to the bottom. D.C. earned the title of most improved. The index: http://bit.ly/1rFkPh9
