Opportunity Nation Leader John Sharify Wins Regional Emmy
•We are pleased to announce that Opportunity Leader John Sharify, General Manager of Seattle Community Colleges Television, has won a Regional Emmy for his 2012 report, “The New Poor” for KING 5 News Seattle. “The series of stories I did on poverty and the new poor in Washington state were inspired by my involvement with Opportunity Nation,” John said. “I knew how important it was to put a face on the sobering statistics, and fortunately my news director at KING 5 agreed it was one of the most important stories we could tell.”
John won the Regional Emmy last weekend in Seattle as part of the Northwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Congratulations to John for telling this important story so well! Watch the series here.
